It was going to be a much better year. We didn’t know what to expect. We were hopeful that the worst of Covid-19, was behind us.

We believed that the new year would bring us great change and we would emerge with a resounding sense of relief.

We believed that we would go BACK to NORMAL. We could wipe our hands clean from the stains of our new Covid-19 world.

Then came 2021. The Yo-Yo year of lockdowns, quarantines, business closures, empty streets, curfews, and practices swinging back and forth in sync with what was all but normal.

We weren’t prepared, and it was impossible for the organisation to know where to begin when we didn’t know what we were facing.

Many survived, and sadly, many did not.

As we come to the close of another year of upheaval in our personal and professional lives, we can, with a greater sense of understanding, recognise, that going ‘Back to Normal’ is potentially the most limiting belief we could have for our organisations.

We have a greater sense of understanding.

We are living right amongst the changes.

We know that if we don’t indulge the change as it forces itself upon us, our business will suffer long-term consequences.

As we stand at this universal precipice of transformation, we are encouraged to embrace the nuances of preparation.
